Koteshwar Mahadev Temple
A beautiful Shiva temple on the banks of Sabarmati
A small but beautiful Shiva temple is situated on the banks of the river Sabarmati near the village Bhat in the northern outskirts of Ahmedabad city. It’s just off the busy road to Gandhinagar from Indira Bridge.
From the parking, we enter through a gate with two ornate wooden doors. Everything changes as we step into the temple premises. We walk through a beautiful walkway to the steps of the temple made of finely carved pink sand stones. The Shivalinga resembles the Shivalinga in the Somanath temple.
The priests perform the rites rather beautifully which is always pleasant to observe. The way they decorate the temple and the deities is worth admiring. The temple is surrounded by a beautiful garden landscape. Sitting on the temple lawns and meditating is a heart-enriching experience. The temple also has a small temple in the same premises devoted to Rama-Janaki, Lakshman, and Hanuman.
Thousands of people visit the temple on festivals but on ordinary days too it’s a great place to visit with family.
